"Wish You Were Here is really a guy movie without the guns," says actor Steve Sabellico ("Steve"). "It's a non-action movie guy movie. Does that make sense? Girls have their 'Fried Green Tomatoes' and guys have this. I haven't really seen a movie where guys relate before. This movie shows a guy's thought process and how the whole male bonding thing happens, how you can punch a guy one minute and then be friends the next."

"At the core of it, it's a movie about genuine buddies," says actor Bob Canning ("Bob"). "It's these three friends working it out for each other. And even when one screws it up along the way, they forgive him because that's what buddies do."

"For me," says writer/director Jason Smith, "the story is about facing up to yourself. When things get tough these guys run full-tilt away from their problems. What they don't realize is that when you hit the road, you bring your problems with you - but now you're dealing with them in a little tiny station wagon. You're stuck with them and there's nowhere else to run to. You can only ignore your problems for so long in a situation like that. The road isn't about change for these three guys. It's about coming to grips with who they already are."
